Information

Super Swift 180 – Overview

The Super Swift 180 is a modified and upgraded version of the Globe/TEMCO Swift GC-1B, a classic American two-seat touring aircraft first produced in the late 1940s. This enhanced variant, often built by enthusiasts or specialized workshops, is equipped with a Lycoming O-360 180-horsepower engine, delivering significantly improved performance compared to the original model.

Designed to combine elegance, speed, and agility, the Super Swift 180 retains the sleek silhouette of the Swift: a low-wing monoplane with an all-metal fuselage, polished or painted finish, sliding canopy, and retractable tricycle landing gear. The modifications go beyond the engine, often including upgraded avionics, high-performance propellers, and aerodynamic refinements.

Thanks to its high power-to-weight ratio and aerodynamic lines, the Super Swift 180 reaches cruising speeds of about 150 to 160 knots (≈ 280 to 295 km/h), making it an attractive choice for fast leisure flying or classic aircraft gatherings. Appreciated by collectors and vintage aviation enthusiasts, it blends the retro charm of the original Swift with the capabilities of a modern light aircraft.
